Wir ankern zwischen zweien der kleineren Inseln, wo die See ruhiger ist. Gleich am ersten Morgen konnten wir einem schwedischen Schiff helfen, welches Motorschaden hatte und dessen Anker in der Nacht nicht gehalten hatte. Es war nur mehr wenige Meter vom Riff entfernt als wir es in Schlepp nahmen. Unser Motor mühte sich ganz schön ab das mehr als doppelt so große Schiff in sichere Gewässer zu ziehen, aber wir haben es geschafft. Es wundert mich immer wieder mehrere hunderttausend € teure Schiffe mit unzureichendem Ankergeschirr zu sehen. Na ja, Hauptsache der Generator geht, damit die Eiswürfelmaschine arbeiten kann.
Jeden Tag waren wir mindestens zweimal Schnorcheln, gleich beim Schiff, am Außenriff und im Seaturtle Watching Reserve bei der Insel Baradal. Wir haben auch tatsächlich zwei Seaturtles beobachtet. Auch den ersten Riffhai habe ich gesehen, man bekommt schon ein mulmiges Gefühl wenn so ein Hai wenige Meter an einem vorbei zieht. Aber er hatte eigene Pläne und verschwand kurz darauf hinter einem Riff. Erstaunlicherweise sind sehr wenige Boote hier, am Samstag waren es zeitweise nur acht Stück in der ausgewiesenen Ankerzone.
Auf Petit Bateau haben wir die Gegend erforscht, sind auf den Gipfel gestiegen und konnten zahlreiche Tiere beobachten. Wir haben uns ein Strandbarbeque geleistet, mit Lobster, Thunfisch und anschließendem Früchteteller. Die Reste werden von den Betreibern hinter die nächste Palme geworfen, wo sie tagsüber von großen Leguanen, nachts von Opossums und Landeinsiedlerkrebsen beseitigt werden. Und natürlich haben wir geknipst was das Zeug hält, mehr davon in den Bildergalerien.
